I Like To Ski

I went skiing on Saturday last weekend and had a great time with my friends. We made some goofy videos, and I'm going to post them here as soon as I finish uploading them to youtube. Until those are ready, here's a group photo:

That's Nate, Tuong, Tori, and I. (Click the photo for better detail.)

Videos to follow soon...

Missing My 3 Friends

Seriously.

Alie has been busy working, and the boys have been busy doing whatever it is they do.

I miss you guys. Come back soon, okay?

Blah

Mondays suck.

Shitty jobs suck even more. So do headaches.

You know what else sucks?

Mice that poop on my guitar case and shred my old photos for nesting material. But not to worry -- my cat is a fierce and mighty huntress who will track them down one by one.

Since I no longer have a guitar case (had to throw mine away - damn mice), my bass guitar now sits out in the open, begging me to play her. And I have. And you know what I've discovered?

I'm a shitty bass player.

Seriously. I couldn't even pass "Bass 101" at the Kim Deal School for Kids Who Can't Play Bass Good (and want to learn to do other stuff good too).

Say it ain't so-oo-oh-oo-oh!

At least I still remember how to play my favorite Weezer and Pixies songs. That's all that really matters.

Your bones got a little machine

It's been a musical evening. I started compiling a mix of my very favorite songs of all time. And you know what I've discovered? (Yes, two discoveries in one week - astounding, I know.)

I'm in love with way too many songs to put into one mix. I mean, where do I even begin? How do I choose some without leaving out others? Should I segregate by genre? By decade? By mood?

It's impossible.

I could put Stereolab on every mix I've ever made, except no one seems to like Stereolab besides me. I have 9 (yes nine) of their albums, I've seen them 3 times in concert, and I even own an obnoxious bright green Stereolab t-shirt.

Yeah... I'm a little bit of a fan.

I'm so full of ideas, and here's a good one!

I think when I finally start dating again, there will be screening questions about music. He must like Stereolab. Or at least accept my liking of Stereolab.

Or in more general terms, he shouldn't want to gouge his own eyes out and/or threaten me with physical violence when I play any of the following:

Bjork, Pixies, Weezer, Missy Elliott, Beastie Boys, Muse, MCR, The Polyphonic Spree, King Crimson, Rush, Talking Heads, Echo and the Bunnymen, The Dresden Dolls, Eisley, Portishead... my list could go on and on.

I don't think it's too much to ask. Do you?

Of course not.

My head still hurts. I think it's time for this music nerd to crawl into bed. But before I do, here's a night/sleep/dream themed lyrical montage, just for fun.

Name that tune and artist!

Us kids know
No cars go
Between the click of the light and the start of the dream

I woke the dawn
Saw horses growing out the lawn

I followed a rabbit
Through rows of mermaid entwined shrubbery

I jumped in the river, what did I see?
Black eyed angels swam with me

Wish I knew what you were looking for
Might have known what you would find

Only in dreams
You'll see what it means

When, when was the night so long?
Like the notes I'm sending

Come to me again in the cold, cold night

Glow, glow, melt and flow
Eviscerate your fragile frame
And spill it out on the ragged floor

So shut your eyes
Kiss my goodbye
And sleep

Just sleep

Good night and pleasant dreams to all.

Lazy

It's been over a week since I got sick, and I finally feel better today. I went unmedicated all day long, and I didn't cough up a lung or blow my nose a thousand times. I can't begin to tell you how good that made me feel. It had been a rough week.

I had grand plans to clean my apartment today. It's a complete disaster. I've got a pile of junk mail on the table, dirty dishes all over the kitchen, a small graveyard of random computer parts leftover from the last job I did, ski clothes strewn all over my bedroom floor, potting soil on the carpet from the plant my cat knocked over... I could go on and on. This is what happens when I'm tired, stressed out, and sick. Things fall apart and I don't have the energy or motivation to deal with it. Until today, right?

[sigh]

Well that was my intention, but of course it didn't happen. I slept in, which was great because I hadn't slept well when I was sick. So I needed that. Then my mom called and we talked for over 2 hours. It was afternoon when I got off the phone, and I was so starving that I had a massive headache. While eating lunch, my new movies arrived from Amazon (Bring It On!). So naturally I had to watch one of those. Head still hurt. I took some ibuprofen and laid down on the couch. Fell asleep. Woke up and it was already dark outside. Where did the day go? And I was hungry again. Ate snacks, turned on the TV, snuggled with my cat, and finally admitted to myself that the cleaning just wasn't happening today.

Score:
Dirty Apartment - 1
Me - 0

(Really, it should be Dirty Apartment - 5 or maybe even 10 because this has already gone on for weeks now.)

So tomorrow's the day...

Haha, I always say that. How often does it actually happen?

But I keep thinking, what if someone were to drop by unexpectedly? It happens from time to time. Sometimes my friend needs to stay over night if he's working late. Sometimes the apartment maintenance guy comes over to ask computer questions. Sometimes we do an impromptu movie and drinks night at my place. And then there's the possibility of my mom coming to stay next weekend. Do I really want other people to see my filth?

No, not so much.

So tomorrow it has to happen. I must clean. This apartment must be livable and presentable again.

It will be mine. Oh yes, it will be mine.

But until tomorrow... it's movies and warcraft FTW!

Sometimes... okay most of the time... a lazy day is not only acceptable but necessary. This must be why I finally feel better today. ^_^

Hard labor tomorrow.

No, really, I mean it this time!

This is for Sister Midnite

I thought it might be fun to share. It really does a good job of summing up all the little things that make me tick... for anyone who actually knows how to read it!

I'm quite fond of my out-of-sign conjunction. No bullshit here! ^_^

Let me know if you'd like additional (or fewer) asteroids.

Enjoy!

Chainmail Panties

[Nerd Alert]

My paladin's new leg armor pretty much amounts to metal lingerie.

And somehow this provides more protection than the full length pants she had before.

Go figure.

Sick

My immune system always starts to tank when I've been stressed out for too long, especially if I haven't gotten enough sleep. So naturally, true to classic form... I am sick once again.

I came to work today because my best friend was having a birthday lunch. That, and I really thought I would feel better once I got up and started moving around.

You know how sometimes you wake up with a sore throat or a little sinus pressure, but after you stand upright for a little while or maybe take a shower, you feel better?

I really thought that would be the case today. So I got up, dragged myself into the office, and attempted to do some work. But it's 2:30 in the afternoon now, and I actually feel worse than I did this morning. I should probably go home and take a nap.

The shitty thing is, I've been hating my job so much during the past several weeks that I've actually wished for illness just so I have a legitimate excuse to stay home. On the day when I finally do get sick, I go to work anyway so I can help my friend celebrate his birthday.

[rumpled frown]

Be careful what you wish for, right?

On a different note, I was naughty the other day... I went to Mayo's house. But it was only to look for BC, since she seems to have disappeared. Anyone know what happened to her? I hope everything is okay.

BC, honey, if you're reading this, I miss you and I hope all is well!

I miss our dear Miss T too! I sure hope your computer will be up and running soon!

I hope everyone has a great weekend. Mine will probably be spent doped up on Nyquil, sleeping the day away or watching movies.

TTFN.

Orange Mocha Frappuccino!!!
