... Thankfully, not the weight loss kind.
Yesterday I went to the chiropractor (who's also a naturopathic physician) for my headaches and neck pain.
Diagnosis?
An episode of hypoglycemia.
Who knew?
Now I'm being treated for two different ailments related to food. I've got Nexium for the reflux, probiotics for my digestive problems, and my neck and back were adjusted. The last piece of treatment is diet.
Regular meals can be normal, but I'm not supposed to eat any high carb snacks between meals, only high protein to avoid a spike & crash in bloodsugar. And I have to eat breakfast, which is really a challenge - my stomach always feels funny in the morning, and I'm usually in too much of a hurry to eat anyway.
Also no coffee or soda. None with sugar anyway, which really defeats the whole point, if you ask me.
It was absolute torture this afternoon being at work, surrounded by chocolate, chips, and other assorted junk food, and not being able to eat any of it. I didn't get my afternoon mocha either. Instead I munched on some sunflower seeds and honey yogurt. Tomorrow it will be almonds and cheese. All tasty things, but still... there's no substitute for chocolate.
On the bright side, I haven't had a headache since yesterday, and I had more energy this afternoon than I've had all week. I guess that means things are looking up!

Blimey girl, if it's not one thing it's another.
I hope you are well and that the food diet is working for you.
I have my computer back, I'm so relieved.
It was fine and I have a new power pack. It doesn't seem to be charging the battery very quickly so I'll keep my eyey on that.
Thanks for visiting my blog while I was AWOL.
It's lovely to see friendly names and you made me smile.
xxxx
Woo, hypoglycemic people unite!
Once you get used to eating constantly, it's not such a bad thing to be afflicted with.
Speaking of which, kinda hungry right now....
What else is going on?
Hi Miss T, glad to hear your computer is back. Hopefully no more technology problems!
Hello Katherine, are you hypoglycemic too? I've had episodes off and on since I was a teenager, usually stress related because I don't take care of myself when I'm stressed out. I like to eat constantly anyway, I just don't always have the time, and when I do, I'm so bad at eating right. Live and learn, right?
I hope you both have a great weekend!
Wow! Food/sugar issues too?
Were we separated at birth? Ok, and 15/20 years, and mothers, and 3000 miles. :)
I can't handle breakfast at breakfast time. It makes me want to hurl. I've always been like that. But I like to snack (chocolate is the best). I like bananas and other fruits. They give me good energy and fill me up fairly well.
I'm glad you found the source of the headaches. They are a bummer. Eating right will make you feel better. Make sure you sleep well too!
(That's the "mom" coming out in me)
